How to play Briscola

The Basics

1. Shuffling and Dealing: After the deck is shuffled, each player receives three cards.
2. The Briscola: The next card on the table is the Briscola, which determines the trump suit for the game.
3. Retiring the Briscola: If a player has the deuce of the trump suit, they can retire the Briscola at the beginning of the game or the first hand.
4. Starting the Game: Team players can show each other their cards before the first hand. The game is played counter-clockwise.
5. Leading a Trick: The player to the dealer's right starts by placing a card face up on the table.
6. Playing a Card: Each player plays a card in turn, one per player.
7. Winning a Trick: The winner of a trick is decided by the highest trump card played, or the highest card of the lead suit if no trump card is played.
8. Collecting Cards: The winner of a trick collects the cards and places them face down in their pile.
9. Drawing Cards: After each trick, the winner draws a card from the remaining deck.
10. Final Card: The last card played should be the up-turned Briscola.
11. Scoring: At the end of the game, players calculate the point value of the cards in their pile.
