What is Baccarat?

Baccarat is a thrilling card game that's quite similar to Blackjack and has gained its fame thanks to Ian Fleming's classic novel, "Casino Royale." It's a game where players compete against the bank (or dealer) with the objective of getting as close as possible to a total of 9 points with the cards they are dealt.

How to Play Baccarat

1. Shuffling the Cards: The dealer shuffles a standard deck of 52 cards and places it in the shoe, a device that allows for fair dealing.

2. Betting: Players place their bets on either the player's hand, the bank's hand, or a tie. The betting can be done before or after the cards are dealt.

3. Dealing the Cards: The dealer deals two cards to the player and two cards to the bank. The player's cards are dealt face up, while the bank's cards are dealt face down.

4. Scoring: The goal is to get as close to 9 as possible. Face cards and 10-value cards are worth 0, and Aces are worth 1. Other cards are worth their face value.

5. Drawing Cards: If the player's hand is 5 or less, they automatically draw a third card. The bank follows specific rules based on the value of its two cards and the player's third card (if any).

6. Evaluating the Hands: After all the cards have been dealt, the hands are evaluated. The hand with the closest total to 9 wins. If both hands tie, it's a tie, and players who bet on the tie win.

7. Payouts: If the player's hand wins, they get paid even money (1:1). The bank wins bets at 95% of the original bet, but players are charged a 5% commission on winning bank bets. If a tie bet wins, it pays out at 8:1.
